The core of ROUNDTEN is Flextal®, a registered material in a high-carbon, titanium enriched austenitic stainless-steel alloy that offers great resistance to impact, pressure and rust. In addition, as indicated by numerous studies, this material has a hygiene standard far superior to plastic and 100% hypoallergenic. Different from our competitors, our high-carbon material offers higher adaptability, less fitting problems, particularly after few months of usage.
There are quite a few innovative hinges in the market. However, based on our own tests, our competitors’ hinges tend to break under regular pressure, due to weaker materials used, or are complicated to operate, or are prone to malfunctioning given any small deformation. The balance between innovation and performance is not always right. All in all, ROUNDTEN hinge system guarantees an easy-to-work-with product, long-lasting comfort, improved aesthetics and perfect fitting over time.
All Roundten sunglasses are
equipped with polyamide lenses. Why Polyamide? Because it’s characteristics
make the lenses almost unbreakable. So simple and so overwhelming. Thus, the
eyes are always protected from any unexpected situation. It is hard to break a
Roundten. Very hard!
Another determining factor of the Polyamide is
that they guarantee an extreme lightness, elasticity and a resistance against
scratches never seen before. And
they offer a high level of vision quality, infinitely superior to that offered
by polycarbonate. So, the Polyamide is discovered as the best accomplice of
Flextal. The complete formula of the materials that make a Roundten is not
magical or secret like the Coca-Cola formula, but almost.
It is the most modern and environmentally friendly technique that makes polyamide lenses more resistant to scratches.
This is the filter that protects our eyes. All our lenses have them and thus the UV radiation that can enter the interior of the lens, and the light and reflections that come from behind, do not reach the eyes, preventing discomfort and risks.
Roundten lenses repel water and oil, avoiding water droplet marks and reducing finger traces, so unpleasant and common on most lenses. This also facilitates visibility and cleaning. All Roundten lenses incorporate this treatment inside and outside.
All Roundten polarized films come from Japan and make an intrinsic part of the lens as they are introduced into the lenses in the polyamide injection process itself, not as an outer layer that can peel off. So, the polarization filter will last for the whole lifespan of the lenses; more than one life, surely.
As with lenses, Flextal and different
types of filters and treatments, technology had to be a key part in deciding
how color would be given to Roundten. We’ve investigated and tried out with
different coloring processes and chose PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), which
offers a unique adhesion and resistance to usage. PVD is nearly impossible to
scratch.
All Roundten products are colored with
PVD. Even those designs that include small details in paint, this paint adheres
to the PVD much more strongly than painting on metal. Another aspect that makes
this technology a crucial factor is that, unlike traditional coatings such as
chrome or galvanization, our process respects the environment.
