THE STORY

Born in 2016, Roundten is a technology-minded brand that blends performance and design. We apply German engineering processes to underpin our Mediterranean styles.

In more specific terms, ROUNDTEN's two founders are truly outsiders, one comes from the automotive industry, experienced in supply chain, operations automation and lean manufacturing; the other being the third generation in a family owning steel production facilities, producing complex components for trains and aerospace. 

Together they devised a design-to-market system using the concepts and tools learned in the automotive and steel industries. 

This proprietary system not only offers a much shorter time to market, but it also ensures inventory efficiency, no cost (or time) of changeovers in production and shorter, continuous production runs.

HINGE SYSTEM

There are quite a few innovative hinges in the market. However, based on our own tests, our competitors’ hinges tend to break under regular pressure, due to weaker materials used, or are complicated to operate, or are prone to malfunctioning given any small deformation. 

The balance between innovation and performance is not always right. All in all, ROUNDTEN hinge system guarantees an easy-to-work-with product, long-lasting comfort, improved aesthetics and perfect fitting over time.

MATERIAL

The core of ROUNDTEN is Flextal®, a registered material in a high-carbon, titanium enriched austenitic stainless steel alloy that offers great resistance to impact, pressure and rust. In addition, as indicated by numerous studies, this material has a hygiene standard far superior to plastic and 100% hypoallergenic. 

Unlike our competitors, our high-carbon material offers higher adaptability, less fitting problems, particularly after a few months of use.

POLYAMIDE LENSES

All Roundten sunglasses are equipped with polyamide lenses. Why Polyamide? Because its characteristics make the lenses almost unbreakable. Simple, yet powerful. Thus, the eyes are always protected from any unexpected situation. It is hard to break a Roundten. Very hard!

Another key feature of Polyamide is that it guarantees an extreme lightness, elasticity and a resistance against scratches rarely seen before. And they offer a high level of vision quality, infinitely superior to that offered by polycarbonate. So, the Polyamide proves to be the perfect complement of Flextal.

PVD

We’ve investigated and tried different coloring processes and chose PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), which offers a unique adhesion and resistance to wear. PVD is nearly impossible to scratch. All Roundten products are colored with PVD. Even those designs that include small details in paint.

Another aspect that makes this technology a crucial factor is that, unlike traditional coatings such as chrome or galvanization, our process respects the environment.
